Our top 5 lunch box tips

May 31, 2022 | Raising Children

Kids are growing so quickly and with that, they need nutritious foods to help fuel this growth 📈

Here are our top 5 ways to make school lunches easy & enjoyable for the kids👇🏻

  1. Create easy-to-access lunches.
Remove packaging (if possible), use easy to open containers, and if your little one struggles to peel a mandarin, for example, pre-peel it at home to make it extra easy for them.
  2. Include fruits & veggies.
This could be a piece of fruit and some cut-up carrot sticks with perhaps a dip or some hommus to go along with. Kids enjoy finger foods.
  3. Balance of all food groups.
Aiming for something from each food group being grains, fruit, veggies, dairy, and protein will help keep that balance that kids need.
  4. Prepare in advance.
Especially helpful for those busy mornings. Pack the lunchboxes the night before, so you can just grab and go in the mornings.
  5. Food storage for cold & even hot food.
Have an ice brick to keep cold foods cold and you can even use an insulated container to dish up hot foods that will stay warm for the kids for lunch – perfect for those leftovers & enjoyable through those colder Winter months too.

We have enough pressure to deal with in everyday life that we don’t want lunches to be an added stress. We hope you find these tips helpful and can make packing lunches easier for you.
