We welcome you to our second Coffee with Glenhaven post where we are so excited to share with you what has been going on at our Kentish House in Sheffield. Cassandra is extremely busy working with many great organisations and people in Sheffield and the wider Kentish area to provide much-needed services to the area.
This month we are sharing stories from our Kentish House. Each Coffee with Glenhaven post we update you on the stories from our different teams.
What we got up to last month…
- We had school holiday activities which included, parent/child movie session, parent/child cooking session, gardening with kids facilitated by Terese Sheffield Community Garden, Funky Movement workshop facilitated by Tech Steps Dance Studio, Junior Soccer Skill Session facilitated by Carly Sullivan and Green Room.
- September saw Kentish House host two community events, firstly, a Women’s Health Week afternoon tea and secondly a Pit Stop Health Event, both events were well attended by community members.
- Kentish House collaborated with Rural Health, Kentish Regional Clinic and Kentish Council to hold a number of events during Mental Health Week.
- Kentish House now has preloved baby clothing packs available through ‘Next Bite of the Apple’
- Kentish House now has The Free Little Kentish Library (street library) out the front. Borrow a book and return or donate another in its place.
Donated Fruit & Veggies
Donated Fruit and veggies are available on a Wednesday 9:30-10:30 am – amounts vary, available on a first in basis and bring your own bag.
Playgroup
Playgroup is held on Tuesdays with new starting time 9-11:30 am each week.
Visiting Services
Kentish House continues to have a number of regular visiting services including, ELPE Health, Salvation Army, SafeChoices, Advocacy Tasmania. During September and October Legal Aid and Tenancy Union of Tasmania also held community information sessions with both services planning on another visit in the new year.
Youth Space
Local youth space is open Thursday’s 3-4:30 pm. Come along and play a game of eight ball, listen to some music and free Wi-Fi.
Open to youth aged 12-24 years.
